SEIU 2026 Endorsements
SEIU represents over 70,000 workers in every corner of Minnesota. We work in healthcare, schools, airports and cleaning and protecting buildings housing some of the wealthiest corporations in the world. We come together across every race, background, gender and zip code to build a world where all of our families are safe and can thrive.
Union members know that in Minnesota we take care of our neighbor. We know the meaning of solidarity. We know how to stand up to billionaires, bullies and wanna-be tyrants. We endorsed candidates who will join us in this fight, not just to block attacks on our state, but to build a better future where we have the pay, healthcare, housing and security all of our families deserve.
Join us this election season in standing up to those who want to move us backwards by supporting union-endorsed candidates up and down the ballot in Minnesota who will help get us out of this mess and build a better future for our state and country.

We are proud to endorse Peggy Flanagan in the race for U.S. Senate in 2026 to fill the seat currently held by Senator Tina Smith.
Kelly Parent, a healthcare worker in Stillwater and member of SEIU Healthcare Minnesota & Iowa, spoke out about how SEIU members have seen Peggy show up over the years:
“Hearing that Peggy Flanagan was endorsed by my union was amazing news. I had the privilege of meeting her this summer when our union members were out on strike fighting for the working people and she joined us on the front line. She told the story of growing up with a single mother who worked her whole life in the working class to provide for her and how she will continue to fight for the working class to get the respect we deserve. I am so proud that my union is supporting her in this race!”
Lori Goth, a school worker in St. Michael and member of SEIU Local 284, shared her appreciation that Peggy has spent her whole career focusing on kids and students:
“Peggy Flanagan has spent her whole adult life fighting for Minnesota kids and working people, just like me. That’s why I was so glad that my union endorsed her run for US Senate. From being a school board member fighting for schools at the local level to being Lt. Governor as our state made historic changes for school workers and students, she has never wavered in being a voice for those who might not otherwise have a voice in places of power. It is exciting to think about the work she will be able to do for Minnesotans when she goes to Washington D.C as our next Senator.”Brooklyn Gonzalez, a janitor and member of SEIU Local 26, spoke out about why members are ready to work hard to get Peggy elected to the U.S. Senate:
“I’m proud that my union is supporting Peggy because she has consistently stood with workers, unions, and immigrant families. She truly cares about our community and has shown she’s willing to fight for all families in our state. I know that in D.C. she will continue pushing to raise wages, expand access to mental health care, lower housing costs, and hold bosses accountable when they treat workers unfairly. Peggy will always stand with union workers and with everyone in our community.”ion text goes here

We are proud to endorse Amy Klobuchar in the race for Minnesota Governor in 2026.
Yvonne Gbeior, a nursing home CNA from Minneapolis and member of SEIU Healthcare MN & IA, shared why she supports Amy:
"Nursing home workers have been pushing for years to improve our pay and benefits to ensure we have enough staff to care for our residents. After talking with Amy Klobuchar, I'm confident she will champion our industry's workers, fight for the funding we need, and ensure that money sent to nursing homes reaches the frontline care workers. I'm excited our union is endorsing Amy and I look forward to when she wins this race so we can get to work improving the nursing home industry for workers and residents!"
Lori Goth, a special ed para in St. Michael and member of SEIU Local 284, shared why school staff like her are supporting Amy:
“I am someone who votes for the person, not the party. After meeting with Amy and sharing my story about how healthcare costs are hurting my family and school staff across the state, it’s clear Amy Klobuchar is the best choice to be the next Governor of Minnesota. Skyrocketing healthcare costs are hurting school staff and students alike, and hearing her support for finding a solution like the statewide insurance pool for educators makes me excited to get her elected and start the work to address this crisis.”
Said Mohamed, a rideshare driver and member of SEIU Local 26 Driver Organizing Committee, shared his excitement for SEIU endorsing Amy Klobuchar for Governor:
"Minnesota rideshare drivers appreciated Amy coming to visit our waiting lot, hearing about the challenges drivers are facing and listening to why we are fighting to change the law so we can vote on whether to form a union like most other workers. We're looking forward to helping get Amy elected Governor and then working together to finally update the law so drivers can vote on having a union."
Kristen Medhanie, DNP, APRN, CNP and a member of Doctors Council Minnesota-SEIU, shared why she was proud of her union's endorsement:
"As primary and urgent care clinicians, we proudly endorse Amy Klobuchar for Minnesota Governor. We deeply appreciate her tireless work to improve healthcare across our state and nation. We envision a future that prioritizes equitable, accessible, and affordable primary care—keeping patients out of hospitals and providers at the bedside. We need to reimagine healthcare so patients are not facing bankruptcy from medical bills, and providers are not leaving due to burnout. Amy is the leader to get this done.”
Senator Klobuchar met with union members and leaders multiple times leading up to the endorsement, learning about the issues and priorities facing SEIU members and their families from across Minnesota.

We are proud to endorse Keith Ellison for re-election as MN Attorney General in 2026.
SEIU is proud to endorse Attorney General Keith Ellison for re-election in 2026. At a time when billionaires and corporations are trying to bend our system so they have even more control over our lives, our state has been lucky to have AG Ellison to stand up to these attacks. He has been a leader nationally on countless issues, and his work to ensure wage theft is taken seriously in our state has made our state a leader in this critical issue. Union members have seen Keith stepping up time after time to stop those trying to break the law in our state, all with an eye to making sure regular Minnesotans have a fair shot. Having Keith in this role has been transformational in protecting Minnesotans and ensuring we all can afford our lives. We are excited to endorse Keith and intend to work hard to re-elect him for another four years."

We are proud to endorse Steve Simon for re-election as MN Secretary of State in 2026.
As MAGA politicians push dangerous power grabs and threaten our freedom to vote, Steve Simon is standing firm — protecting voter data, safeguarding poll access, and ensuring every eligible ballot is counted.
We’re standing with him for a future where MN continues to lead in voter turnout and where our freedoms belong to all of us!
